Hi everyone,
As we look out our windows and watch the weather report we are all a little worried about getting snowed in. As I drove to work this morning with the snow falling on the freeway it made me think of a few years ago when we had several days of snow and reminded me of how that can affect our pets. Here are a few things to keep in mind: please make sure water sources are available and unfrozen (bird baths, outside water dishes in dog runs etc). Salt added to sidewalks and roads can cause irritation to dog and cat footpads so, if necessary please rinse your dogs feet after a walk. If possible try to plan ahead when picking up supplies for your pets. Especially for dog and cat food and medication refills.

As we all know it is more likely that we will experience nothing more than a light dusting of snow but you never know! Please don't worry about our hospital being open during inclement weather-A few years ago Dr Goodman cross county skied to work! We will always find a way to get here to help you and your pets.

Best wishes,
Michele Zawadzki, DVM
